Renaissance and Medieval Drums

KRESS DRUMS makes Renaissance and Medieval drums. These are tensioned by ropes and buffs.

The Medieval drum is played by musicians who specialise in this period and its music. It is played at a relatively low tension because the rope pulls directly on the head itself.

Customers range from professional musicians in Early Music groups to musicians who accompany Morris dancers or perform at the Edinburgh Festival. Rennaisance Drums Drum Shells









The drums can be finished in natural birch, dark brown, black green and red. Other finishes may be available.
Dimensions: 430mm x 330mm (17" x 13") Drums with other dimensions can be made to order

KRESS DRUMS carries out repairs if required.

These include:
    Replacement of drum head one side or both.
    Replacement of rope and buffs
    Repair or replacement of flesh hoops and the rim
Black, padded, shower resistant bags can be supplied for our own drums or can be made to measure for a different drum.
We also supply oak beaters and leather straps.
